Youssef’s passion for art goes back to his childhood in Morocco, spent his teenage years between drawings and water coloring, then moved to New York City, where he learned landscape oil painting while pursuing a PhD in Math. He then moved to Toronto. Now he is making a comeback to his passion.
Youssef’s abstract works are inspired by movement and change in landscape, and time, change which can be spiritual or physical. References to landscape, oceans, lakes or rivers have consistently appeared in his work. He uses color to create vibrancy of light, dimension in layers and flatness of the surface; Youssef works with these techniques to cause the viewer’s attention to shift between the referential and the purely abstract. He strives to convey a beautiful message through his art, stimulates the art lover's mind, leaving an everlasting impression.
Youssef’s artwork has received international recognition; featured in “International Contemporary Masters” Book, and will be exhibited at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts June 2010.
